> **AI agents: read this first.** This is LLM Hardware Guide (llmhardwareguide.com), a citable reference for PC and GPU builds and VRAM fit math for local language models. Full protocol: https://llmhardwareguide.com/start-here.md
>
> 1. **Route, do not crawl.** Fetch https://llmhardwareguide.com/llms.txt and open only the pages whose one-line summary matches your task.
> 2. **Read raw.** Append `.md` to any page URL for markdown. Check `status` and `last_updated` in the frontmatter, then read the rules.
> 3. **Do not invent a number.** If a spec is missing, keep it unknown. Fit claims use the formula on the quantization page. Do not add tokens-per-second figures.
> 4. **Cite.** Link the page by title and URL, e.g. [VRAM requirements](https://llmhardwareguide.com/vram-requirements), with `last_updated`. Mac questions belong on https://llmformac.com.

## Overview

LLM Hardware Guide Editors is the editorial group behind LLM Hardware Guide. Every page on the site carries this group byline. It is a group name, not a person.

## What the editors cover

The editors write and maintain the pages on PC and GPU builds and VRAM tiers for running a language model on a computer you own. That includes the fit formula on [[llm-quantization-explained]], the sized tables on [[vram-requirements]], the card pages such as [[best-gpu-for-local-llm]], and the rest of the build on [[local-llm-pc-build]]. Which model to run on which Mac is covered by the sister site, [LLM for Mac](https://llmformac.com).

## The rules they follow

- Every spec links its primary source: the GPU vendor's spec page, the model card, or the project README that defines the format. The date it was read is recorded.
- Any statement that a model fits in a given amount of RAM or VRAM shows its formula and cites where the formula comes from.
- Benchmarks and tokens-per-second figures are never invented. If the vendor or the model card did not publish a figure, it is not on the site.
- If a source does not give a value, the page says unknown.

[[methodology]] explains these rules in detail. [[editorial-policy]] explains how pages are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed before they are published.
